PHOTOGRAPHY & MIXED MEDIA WITH ENCAUSTICS
From Novice to Seasoned Pro
Whether you use a smart phone, point-and-shoot or professional camera to take photos, this workshop is for you! Learn to use the ancient encaustic wax process to enhance your photographs. This hands-on workshop allows you to create beautiful art work using photographs along with the encaustic wax process and other mixed media. Your instructor, Angel Wynn, is a long time photographer and encaustic artist. All workshops are held at her downtown studio/gallery or at the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe. You will learn a variety of painting processes while applying layers of encaustic medium and oil pigments to images that will turn them into creative works of art. This class is ideal for beginners or seasoned photographers who would like to explore wax as an alternative means for creating multiple translucent layers with a luminous quality. Wynn demonstrates correct glue methods,  tools to achieve texture, mixing oil pigments, image transfers, hand coloring, best substrates and more. Wynn also will have on hand a variety of papers you can print images onto along with other usable materials like rice paper, tissue, cocktail napkins, fabrics, etc.  We will discuss the equipment necessary to economically set-up your own studio to get a quick start for you to begin making encaustic art. All equipment and materials are included. You can bring 6 to 8 photographs of your own or just bring your enthusiasm, as an assortment of images will be on-hand to use. No matter if you are a beginner , refresh your skills or hone in to master a technique from many of Angel's unique processes that she's developed. These workshops are guaranteed to take your basic images to an extraordinary  level of expertise in using encaustic wax.
